[RL with Simon]

After talking with Pegasus late into night Chibiusa feel asleep. It wasn't a very deep sleep and she felt restless the whole time. Eventually she woke up again and something didn't feel quite right. She winced a bit as she stretched and yawned. Slowly and groggily she sat up and rubbed her eyes. It wasn't until she actually opened her eyes that things went bad. It was dark. She could barely see what was in front of her. There's no way her attic room would be that dark. Even at night the streetlights and stars leaked their glow into her window.

Frantically she felt around only to have her arm touch something soft...it was skin. Someone else's skin. There was someone lying next to her. Immediately she leaped out of the bed and let out a shrill cry. And as she did she felt a tight pain form in her chest, causing her to scream even more and collapse to her knees.

"Yeah. The world shouldn't come with ceilings." A week ago, he wouldn't have cared.

"Why are they keeping you down there anyways?" she asked. She was curious now.

He pondered a minute, still eating. Finally he swallowed. "We... don't really know. Viral said it was because the Helix King ordered it."

"Do you know anything about the Helix King?" she wondered. She knew what it was like not to understand what the enemy had in mind. Even now she still had no idea what the Amazon Trio wanted with people's dreams.

"He's Nia's father and he hates human self-awareness. To the point that the women he brings up are taught not to think for themselves and are treated more as pets than people." He couldn't help being just a little angry, his hand tightening on hers. "He'll do whatever it takes to keep us quiet. He was going to broadcast our executions to every human that lost their underground village and had to stay on the surface."

Chibiusa winced a bit as Simon tightened his grip, but she understood why he did it. Just hearing about the Helix King was making her angry and suddenly she was very proud of Simon and this group of people she didn't even know. She knew that if this were her world she'd be doing just the same.

"It's a good thing you escaped then huh?" she said, smiling a little.

He relaxed a little, realizing he might be hurting her. "Yeah... I guess so. It was all thanks to Nia, though. She kept Guame occupied long enough for Lagann to come to me."

"So she doesn't follow her father then?" she asked. It certainly wasn't unheard of and Simon seemed to think very highly of her.

"Nia?" He laughed. "Oh, no. She's saved us more than once. She's nothing like the Helix King--she's human, too."

Chibiusa blinked a couple times, trying to figure that out.

"How is the possible? The Helix King isn't human right?"

"...Her mother was human, at least. She doesn't have fur or scales or feathers or anything like the other beastmen." He rested his chin on his free hand. "She's pretty sure she's human, too."

"Huh," she said and took a few more bites. It didn't really make sense, but she didn't think it really mattered all that much either.

"So how long have the beastmen been around here?"

"Since forever." He sounded pretty certain about it. "They were here long before Aniki and I got out of the village." He pet the mole pig that had hopped onto his shoulder, with a grin. "Boota, too."

Chibiusa was about to ask more until she noticed Boota hop on to Simon's shoulder. A smile lit up on her face as she watched the cute little animal.

"What is he?" she asked as she waved to Boota.

"This is Boota." Simon held out the curious little rodent. "He's a mole pig. A small mole pig, but a mole pig."

"Buhi."

"A mole...pig," she repeated. It was strange seeing different animals like this. She put down her fork and held out her empty hand in hopes that Boota would hop over. "Hello Boota. I'm Chibiusa."

Boota hopped over to her hand and scrambled onto her shoulder with a "buhi." Simon grinned. "He likes you."

... The Boota Whisperer.

Chibiusa giggled as the molepig crawled up her shoulder. "I like him too. It's a good thing Diana isn't here. She might get jealous," she laughed.

Boota settled himself as if that was his natural position. This shoulder was his.

"Boota's like family. It'll be horrible leaving him behind." Simon sighed.

The smile on Chibiusa's smiled faded at that. She already missed Diana, not to mention the rest of her family, and she was asking Simon to leave his world.

"Boota could probably come too...but that probably isn't the same. Sorry."

"...You don't mind?" He sighed. She probably had a pet, too. "You have pets where you're from?"

"Yeah," Chibiusa nodded. "Nothing quite like molepigs, but he'd be easy enough to hide from people. I have a cat named Diana, and my cousin has Luna."

"...Cats?" He looked blank.

"Yeah," Chibiusa nodded as she tried to think of how she would explain cats to someone. "Do you have anything like a lion or tiger here?"

He shook his head. "I've never heard of one... they say Viral is part 'cat' thought..."
